It is quite common to have an email
accidentally deleted in your Hotmail account. Need not worry as you can easily
access such deleted or missing email messages in your Hotmail account using the
workarounds provided below. However, before moving to the solutions, it is to
be noted that Microsoft has replaced Windows live Mail and Hotmail with
Outlook. This means the following steps apply to Windows Live, Hotmail, and
other email accounts on Outlook.

Messages
When you delete an email message in your
Hotmail account, it first gets transferred to the Deleted folder. After a few
days, the email is also removed from the Deleted folder permanently. So, if you
are looking to restore such deleted or missing emails in your Outlook, the
first place to look at is the Deleted

Open

press the Restore button.

As
you will press the Restore button,
the emails will be restored to the same folder from which they were deleted.
NOTE: You will be able to recover emails
and other items removed from your Deleted
Items folder for 30 days only.
Search Option to Find Missing Emails
Another ideal way to find missing emails in
your Outlook email account is by using the search option. The search option
will help you find the missing emails by scanning through the different
folders. Here are the steps to use the search option for finding missing
emails.
1.
Sign
in to your Outlook email account on a web browser.
2.
Once
you are logged into your account, you will need to locate the Search bar option located in the top
section.
3.
In
the Search field, enter the email address of the sender (or recipient) for
which you are searching. As you will begin typing the email address, you will
see the related auto-suggestions.
4.
From
the displayed auto-suggestions, select the email address. Doing so will display
the emails you have received or sent from/to the email address.
5.
Select
the missing email(s) from the search result and move into your desired folder
to keep it safe.
Preventing Outlook.Com from Deleting
Emails Automatically
By default, your Outlook account is configured
to empty the Deleted Items folder whenever you sign out of your account. If you
wish to prevent your Outlook email account from clearing your deleted items
folder every time you log out of your account, you can follow the steps
provided below.
1. Open Outlook.com on your web browser
and sign in to your account.
2. Once you are signed into your
account, you will need to select the Settings option located in the top-right
corner of the page and select View all
Outook settings option.
3. Next, you will need to select the Message handling option located in the
Mail section of the Settings window.
4. Now, go to the When signing out section and deselect the checkbox next to Empty my deleted items folder.
5. After that, select the Save option to apply the changes and
close the Settings window.
