How To Set Up BellSouth Email on Windows Live Mail Using IMAP or POP3

 You are provided a BellSouth email account when you purchase one of their services such as Telephone, Internet, or Television. While you can easily access your Bellsouth email account using a web browser to send and receive emails, however, if you are looking to access it using a third-party email client such as Windows Live Mail, you will need to have the required email settings. 1.       On your computer, open the Windows Live Mail email program. Once it gets opened, you will need to select the Add e-mail account option.

2.       On the next screen, you will need to follow these steps:

·         Enter your complete AT&T email address in the provided field.

·         Enter your secure mail key for your password.*

·         Enter your name as you want it to display to others.

·         Make sure to select the checkbox next tothe Remember password option.

3.       Next, you will need to select theManually configure server settings for this e-mail account option, and then click on the Nextbutton.

4.       Then, you will need to enter the following information in the Incoming Server section on your screen:

·         Account Type: Select IMAP or POP3.

·         Incoming Server: Enter imap.mail.att.net (IMAP) or inbound.att.net (POP3).

·         Then, you will need to select the checkbox next toThis server requires a secure connection (SSL)option.

·         Also, make sure thatSign on using option displays Clear text authentication.

5.       After that, you will need to complete the Outgoing Server section on your screen using the following information:

·         Outgoing server: Enter smtp.mail.att.net (For IMAP) or outbound.att.net (For POP3).

·         Next, make sure to select the checkbox next toThis server requires a secure connection (SSL) and My outgoing server requires an authentication option.

6.       Finally, you will need to select theNext and then the Finishbutton. Your BellSouth Email account will get configured to the Windows Live Mail program.

Use a secure mail key

As AT&T email is soon going to upgrade its security,if you are using Windows Live Mail for accessing your email account, make sure to update your email settings and create a secure mail key to set up or update your AT&T email in Windows Live Mail.

To Verify or update settings for AT&TdEmail

If you already have an email account configured in your Windows Live Mailbut wish to update your email account using your secure mail key, you can follow these steps:

1.       To begin with, you will first need to right-click on your AT&T emailin the Windows Live Mail program and select theProperties option.

2.       Next, you will need to include the following information on your screen in the General tab:

·         Make sure to verify your Name and Email address.

·         Also, make sure that the checkbox next to Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing option is selected.

3.       Then, you will need to go to theServers tab and enter the following information on your screen.

·         Check and confirmPOP3or IMAPshows for the Incoming mail server.

·         Make sure that the Incoming Mail Server has the correct email address.

·         Next, you will need to enter or paste your Secure mail key in the Password field.

·         Make sure that the checkbox next toRemember passwordis selected.

·         Select the checkbox next to My server requires authenticationunder the Outgoing Mail Server.

4.       After that, you will need to go to the Outgoing Mail Server Settings and confirm the following:

·         Incoming server: imap.mail.att.net (for IMAP) or inbound.att.net (for POP3)

·         Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.att.com (for IMAP) or outbound.att.net (for POP3)

5.       Then, you will need to open the Advanced tab and confirm the following:

·         Incoming server: Enter 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP3).

·         Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL.

·         Outgoing server: Enter 465 (IMAP and POP3).

·         Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL

6.       Once you are done entering the information in the relevant fields, you will need to select the Applybutton and then on the OKbutton. And, this is how you can verify and update your BellSouth email settings in Windows Live Mail.
